NDP: Ontario's energy future needs a clear focus on affordable, clean energy

QUEEN’S PARK – Sandy Shaw, Ontario NDP critic for the Environment, has released the following statement in response to the government’s latest energy announcement:

“As our province grows, so does our energy demand. Ontario’s energy future needs a clear focus on affordable, clean energy. Today’s announcement signals that Doug Ford and his politicians are opening the gates for more gas-powered projects instead of focusing on future-proofing our province’s energy strategy. Lecce may say his approach is ‘tech-agnostic'. Unfortunately, all it does is push Ontario further away from our goal of having an affordable and clean energy grid.

“The people of Ontario deserve better than a government that is more focused on profits for gas companies than protecting communities from climate change.”
